sadie and i have been working hard on manners. she is getting better and better at saying please and thank you. there are times when she mixes them up, and for about a two days she wouldn't say anything other than thank you. when she whines or wants something all i have to do is give her "the look" and she will at least say one or the other, which is so great. she's really catching on to things. there are still words that she says that we aren't quite sure what they mean but we are working at listening better to what she says.
sadie is still a very independent little girl. she loves to try to do things on her own, especially when it comes to meal time. she won't let any of us help her anymore, and she really likes to eat with utensils. she'll ask for a fork or spoon if we don't give her one right away. she's a pro at eating most things with utensils, cereal is the latest. we are so proud of her! yesterday when i gave her breakfast she said "thank you mama" it about melted my heart. what a sweet sweet girl.
she also loves her bubbles. when we get into the car from daycare she often asks for bubbles, and i mean the entire way home she asks for bubbles. she loves to carry around the container and try to blow them. she's not very good at it yet, sometimes she gets a few that come out, but most of the time it ends up in a big mess. yesterday we were at my parents house playing outside and she took the container from me and started to carry it around. she must have spilled bubbles earlier than evening because there was bubble liquid all over the deck, sadie was going a little too fast, she slipped and fell right in the bubbles. she didn't hit her head that hard but certainly cried. i think it scared her more than anything. when i picked her up i realized that her entire backside, not just bottom, but shoulers, back, hair, arms, legs, everything was covered in bubble solution. most moms would probably have taken their child indoors to get cleaned up but i knew as soon as we got out of the bathtub she would be right back outside reaching for the bubbles, so we played a little longer. she was more careful the next time she picked up the bubbles thats for sure.

19 months! already???
whoa is all i have to say. it's been a rather long time since i posted last. it's unbel
eiveable how much sadie changes even from week to week. just when i think she's got one thing mastered she picks up a new one, like the dog poop outside today when i was putting laundry on the clothesline. i certainly never thought i would have to tell her to put down poop, but then again i'm not always thinking like a 19 month old eh? i did some counting yesterday and sadie knows over 55 words! that doesn't include commands she understands and noises she makes. just this morning i was "attempting" to make a breakfast from a very sparse kitchen. i got out some cheese slices and she exclaimed "cheese!" i had never heard her say that before. yesterday it was icky. sadie spent a long time putting on and taking off a pair of my mom's sandals. i had no idea that would keep her as busy as it did but she loved every minute of it. she still loves to push things around like a broom, her little vacuum, carts, the stroller.

one really funny thing that happened on saturday at mass was when poeple were coming back from communion she was yelling hi at everyone as they walked by her. you could see some people were amused and smiling while others were trying to keep a praying. oh the joys of bringing a 19 month old to church. sadie loves to say hi and bye to EVERYONE, including cars and peoople she has just met. at the fireworks on saturday night she was trying to get this woman's attention down the hill from us yelling hi and waving at her until the woman looked up and waved back. only then is she satisfied.
we also think that sadie will be a very good big sister. she loves to point out babies to us (and buses, and cars but that's beside the point right now). in fact on thursday night we saw a 3 month old baby while we were watching daddy's softball game. sadie could not give the baby enough kissies. and when the baby started crying sadie got VERY concerned and had a worried look on her face. i think she even recognized the bottle and surprisingingly didn't say "mine" as she normally does. if you are sitting in a chair she wants, playing with a toy she's interested in, or even holding something she thinks should be hers she will whine and let you know that she's the boss (for now, once that baby comes everything will change :)

PUPPY and other words you know
well toots are you certainly off and running. it's hard to imagine what life was life before you said words or pointed to things and said something that none of us could understand. you seem to know exactly what's going on even if we don't.
you are becoming a really picky eater, much to your parents chagrin. we certainly have tried to increase your taste in different food but it's becoming smaller and smaller each meal. we aren't giving up, although your father tends to give in and give you the old standbys- yogurt (we can't even say it anymore without you going to the fridge to stand there until we open it to give you some) crackers (really crackers of any kind, but you love graham and oyster the best) eggs, salmon (yeah i know, fish??) tilapia, pasta (as long as it's a good sauce you like, none of that meat stuff in it.) you also love this vegetable mixture that we get at the store that has yellow carrots, spinach, and white beans in a butter sauce.
you will refuse hamburger of any kind. in fact you don't like most meats, you'll eat chicken every once in a while, but most of the time no deal. at daycare you've been coming home with only eating some of your lunch, you eat a huge breakfast, most of your morning and afternoon snacks but aren't too keen on lunch yet.
speaking of daycare, you've moved rooms! how could i forget to mention that! you were the oldest baby in the other room, now you've "graduated" the big girl room. in this room you get more movement, more activities. you even brought home your first "coloring" paper last week. the room is just past the big painting of Clifford on the wall. every time (and i mean every time) you walk by it you have to stop and pat Clifford and say "puppy". this new room is great, you've already been outside a ton, you also get to go into the gym and play on playground equipment. the girls in the room say you have fit in just fine, you are very kind to all your new friends, some of which were in your room when you were a baby. they say that when someone is crying you always go over and pat them to try to sooth them. you also used to go over to the babies that were crying and put their pacifiers back in their mouths, after you used it for a bit of course. :)
you know lots of words now and it seems you are learning more and more everyday. you know: grandpa (bah-bah), baby (you love to point out babies all over, even if there isn't a baby near by) bye-bye, car (cah), pen (pin) puppy, cracker (i can't even spell how you say it), bath (bahh), night night (pretty much the same), mama, and bird (which sounds like burrr) you still love reading and aren't sitting through too many books lately but just enough.
the love affair with willie hasn't died any. you still love to chase him and pet him and pull his hair when you can get close enough. lately when he's been next to me on the floor you've come over and laid on him. i think he handles your "love" pretty well. he never growls or barks or nips you, he just whines and runs away. on Friday morning of this last week i looked over to see you on the floor trying to pick a bottle up with your teeth. you love plastic pop bottles because you know if you have one in your hand willie will come close to you. you try to get them away from him so he will follow you. you love to imitate him, pet him, and chase him. he's certainly your favorite. deep down i think he loves you too. when we climb the stairs at night after you've gone to bed he always goes straight into your room to circle around your crib before he comes into our room. you also scream PUPPY in the morning when we get up because he makes a beeline for your room in the morning also. it's pretty sweet. just don't put those bottles in your mouth anymore okay?
you also have been climbing a lot, not to mention the belly flop you took off the couch in the dining room onto the wood floor. poor thing. you had a scrap on your mouth and nose after that one. you've stopped doing so much of that after that little incident. speaking of noses, you have this new thing of sticking your finger up your nose. i'm not sure if you didn't realize there was a hole there before but let's hope that habit doesnt last too much longer. ha!
sorry it's been a while since I've written. i have lots to share with you, i will write more later. love mommy

toots
hi toots,
tonight you did the funniest thing. i was on the computer in the recliner not really paying attention (highly unlikely for me) and all the sudden it sounded like you were drinking something. i looked up and realized that you had grabbed the glass of diet 7-up from the table and were quite successfully drinking it. in fact very little spilled. while i wasn't thrilled at all that you were drinking pop at your young age, the best part was once you saw me, you put the cup down and said "ahhhhh" really loud. it made me laugh out loud. you then clapped your hands and gave that huge-teeth-and everything grin. it was singlehandedly the best part of my day. we actually spent mommy sadie weekend almost- daddy has been CRAZY busy this last week trying to get the 3-D casino out by next week. thursday night after i picked you up, i couldn't figure out why you kept putting your hand in front of your face and taking it away and smiling. it finally occured to me that you were trying to play peek-a-boo with me. daddy had taught you how to do that and now we have great fun with it.
well toots, it seems like we have had some bad luck. with your brother getting stabbed, my car accident, and the emergency room trip last week, i have been reminded over and over agin that life could always be worse. the knife could have been a few mm closer to a major atery. you could have been in my car when the man hit me, and you could have a serious case of RSV or something worse than a really bad cold and an ear infection.
tonight we learned that a good friend/parishoner who was spending time in texas has terminal brain cancer. once again, i'm reminded that life is so short and i really don't have any time to complain about a few late bills or frustrations at work when people around me are in the fight of their lives.
i am so so so lucky to have you has my sweet baby and i don't know where i would be if you weren't in my life. you always know how to make me laugh. you get this very serious look on your face and "talk" but it's not like any other babbling i have ever heard. randomly you will raise your hands so everyone who is around you will yell "so big" you love to point to your nose, my nose, your mouth, and belly. you still give anything you hold huggies and are starting to give kissies again.
my goodness- how could i forget! last week you took your first steps! daddy got it on video and i'm hoping we will be able to load it on here so everyone can see.
you are so special my lovely sweet wonderful baby. thank you for blessing me so much.
love you, mommy

dear sader tot
sorry i haven't written about you in a while. life around the wilson household is off to a full sprint in the new year.
it feels sort of like a reaccuring theme that life is always a full sprint. you are so much the light of our lives, you seem to really put life in perspective and you always teach us to not sweat the small stuff. who knew that putting bibs on your head and taking tupperware out of a cabinet could be so exciting and fun.
you aren't walking yet, and you are just fine with that right now. you are such a laid back baby, just go with the flow and really the only time you cry is when you are hungry and right before bed, and even right before bed it's more of a "mommy will you pay attention to me" as you are rubbing your eyes on my knee. you get around just fine crawling and cruising around furniture. something new that you have just started in the last week is taking a little bench that is normally in the dining room and dragging it around the kitchen in order to kneel and stand on it. you don't like it when we put it up. you certainly let us know when you aren't happy. you scream and arch your back, especially when it's time to change your diaper and you are in the middle of playing. it's usually pretty easy to change your mood, we usually sing or talk to you and you instantly start to smile and laugh again. you love to take grandma and grandpa's glasses off their faces and their glasses case out of grandpa's pocket. you love to examine any jewelry or buttons that someone might have on. you can also point to your nose, say "uh oh" and "Mama". you know the signs for all done and milk. you also raise your arms during "SO BIG" and smile when you get it right, then you clap. i think i might have confused you, we were working on pointing to your mouth and now when i say nose you put your finger in your mouth. back the the drawing board :)
you love to read books, in fact when i get the stack of books that we normally read before bed you start to laugh and giggle and crawl towards the recliner. you love to take the books and turn the pages, and sometimes you even wait for me to finish the page before you turn it. some of the books like the hungry caterpiller, brown bear, polar bear, and runaway bunny you will "allow" me to read about 3 pages before you throw it off the chair.
you still love pens, markers, and everything you arne't supposed to have. you especially love climbing behind the recliner in order to dig through the rubbermaid storage and bang on the computer keys, which is your new favorite pasttime. when we take you around the front, you usually kick your legs, arch your back and protest in the only way you know how a pathetic fake cry and screaming at the top of your lungs
you are starting to learn no, if we say it in a stern enough voice you will look at us, then if we come over to where you are you will give it to us, we say thank you and then you clap your hands.
one funny story from this last week was on wednesday i looked over to where you were in the living room, you had taken almost all the clothes out of a laundry basket, you had my underwear on your head, a onesie around your shoulders, a shirt around your waist and you were just talking away to yourself. you really are starting to talk/babble a lot, especially to us. one more thing this week that you've started to do is a goof ball grin. you just started that this week, when you get something like a spoon with food on it or a pen that someone else had you will squint your eyes and grin so much that we can see your teeth. it's so cute. i'm hoping to get it on tape or a picture of it.
we love you so much sadie.
love mommy
