our sadie the little painter

sadie has been growing and changing so much lately. it seems that's an obvious statement given her age.

changes every single day and seems to know new words and sometimes even phrases. we seem also to be reading the same books over and over again. i wondered when this stage would start. the other day as we were reading polar bear polar bear sadie flipped through the pages and started naming off animals like flamingo, leopard, hippotamus, etc. obviously the words didn't sound exactly like that but it was close enough for me to be able to understand it. i was very impressed. it really did show me that she pays attention to everything that we do and say. we were reading another book called gossie and sometimes when i read the book i make sound effects. yesterday as i was reading it to her sadie made the same sound effects that i sometimes make. it was so cute.
one area that we are trying to improve on is when sadie gets ahold of markers. the last two days have been disasterous. i came home yesterday from work to discover sadie's dora car and her pajama's decorated with red sharpie marker. it turns out daddy hadn't been paying too close attention to her and she had also had red marker all over herself as well. at least that got cleaned up. today little miss who decided to color herself, the window, and the couch with a blue marker. i think we need to be more vigilant about our little picasso.
summer time with grandma is the best!
she somehow got in and couldn't get out
yelling for more milk

earning to drive a little early
can't quite reach the peddles
"are my lights on?"
she LOVES corn on the cob
she loved the bouncy house but couldn't stand up
so she just sat there and watched the other kids

"thank you mama"

sadie and i have been working hard on manners. she is getting better and better at saying please and thank you. there are times when she mixes them up, and for about a two days she wouldn't say anything other than thank you. when she whines or wants something all i have to do is give her "the look" and she will at least say one or the other, which is so great. she's really catching on to things. there are still words that she says that we aren't quite sure what they mean but we are working at listening better to what she says.
sadie is still a very independent little girl. she loves to try to do things on her own, especially when it comes to meal time. she won't let any of us help her anymore, and she really likes to eat with utensils. she'll ask for a fork or spoon if we don't give her one right away. she's a pro at eating most things with utensils, cereal is the latest. we are so proud of her! yesterday when i gave her breakfast she said "thank you mama" it about melted my heart. what a sweet sweet girl.
she also loves her bubbles. when we get into the car from daycare she often asks for bubbles, and i mean the entire way home she asks for bubbles. she loves to carry around the container and try to blow them. she's not very good at it yet, sometimes she gets a few that come out, but most of the time it ends up in a big mess. yesterday we were at my parents house playing outside and she took the container from me and started to carry it around. she must have spilled bubbles earlier than evening because there was bubble liquid all over the deck, sadie was going a little too fast, she slipped and fell right in the bubbles. she didn't hit her head that hard but certainly cried. i think it scared her more than anything. when i picked her up i realized that her entire backside, not just bottom, but shoulers, back, hair, arms, legs, everything was covered in bubble solution. most moms would probably have taken their child indoors to get cleaned up but i knew as soon as we got out of the bathtub she would be right back outside reaching for the bubbles, so we played a little longer. she was more careful the next time she picked up the bubbles thats for sure.
